The Louisiana Music Teachers Association, an affiliate of the Music Teachers National Association since 1952, is a non-profit organization of independent teachers and university faculty who are dedicated to promoting excellence in music teaching and performance. LMTA encourages the growth and professional development of its members through educational programs and performance opportunities.
Local affiliates throughout the state (Baton Rouge, Central Louisiana, Greater Shreveport, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe, New Orleans, North Shore, and Ruston) offer many opportunities for teachers and students, including workshops, music festivals and competitions.
Our web pages provide detailed information about LMTA’s many events and programs. There are articles of interest to music teachers, students and parents (including a “find a teacher” service), links to related websites, and contact information for our state officers. LMTA members may access a complete membership directory with secure log-in.
If you are an LMTA member, you will be able to find all the forms you need, read the Score newsletters on-line, visit the IMTF and Certification pages, and easily contact your colleagues.
If you are a student, you will enjoy the pages especially for you, including links to music websites and downloads.
If you are a parent, you will be able to locate a teacher, access articles of interest, find information on instrument care and practice tips.
If you are a music teacher in Louisiana and do not yet belong to LMTA, we hope your visit to our website will encourage you to seek further information about becoming a member and availing yourself of the many services and benefits provided by LMTA and MTNA.
Thank you for visiting the LMTA website. If you would like to know more about LMTA, please contact me or one of the other LMTA officers.
Sincerely,
Donna Toney, LMTA President
